Learning Journey 101
By Landmark Venture
In 2017, our Social Innovation Summit inaugurated our brand new Learning Journey format — and it was a huge success!
So, for the uninitiated, I thought I’d take an opportunity to share our thinking about what makes this new event format so special:
Learning Journeys were developed as a year-round extension of our flagship annual Social Innovation Summit. They create ongoing opportunities for impact-minded leaders to engage around specific issue areas in different geographies across the United States.
“Learning Journeys were developed as a year-round extension of our flagship annual Social Innovation Summit. They create ongoing opportunities for impact-minded leaders to engage around specific issue areas in different geographies across the United States.”
At each Learning Journey, we bring an intimate, cross-sector delegation together in a particular city, with a three-pronged objective:
1) Explore innovations that are shaping the social innovation landscape through group discussions, interactive workshops, and behind-the-scenes site visits
2) Engage industry stakeholders and share best practices in an intimate, invitation-only setting
3) Experience innovation in a local context and identify pathways to bring solutions to scale nationally
Our first Learning Journey took place in Kansas City, where we worked closely with our partner the Kauffman Foundation to explore The Future of Education. We then went to Los Angeles, where we collaborated with our partner the Annenberg Foundation to dive into the local Technology for Social Impact landscape.
Next up: Philadelphia, where we’ll again be exploring Technology for Social Impact, this time with our partner Comcast NBCUniversal.
I hope you’ll join us for a Learning Journey in 2018!
